Although we love San Diego all year round, our favorite time of the year is the summer. With summer comes all the fun summertime festivities. How are you celebrating your 4th of July? If you happen to be in San Diego during this time, you need to check out San Diego Big Bay Boom. San Diego Big Bay Boom is the largest firework show in Southern California. Viewers can enjoy it from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero North, Seaport Village, Embarcadero South Marina Park, and Coronado Ferry Landing. Fortunately for us here at the Comfort Inn Gaslamp, the bays are only about a mile or so away. This 17-minute-long spectacular is a sight to behold and is a great way to end your 4th of July celebration.
Every year San Diego hosts a Beer Fest at Liberty Station NTC. Liberty station is only 5.6 miles away from our lodging, making it but a short drive away. This event features dozens of local craft beers, international craft beers, some of San Diego's most popular food trucks, and local cover bands. This year, San Diego Brew Fest will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM PDT. Cold Beer(s) + Delicious Food +Live music, what more could you ask for on a hot summer day?
After two years of cancellations due to Covid-19, Comic-Con is coming back! We saved the best for last, and as you can tell from the header above, Comic-Con is our favorite upcoming event this summer. Comic-Con is the largest comics and pop culture event held across the United States in all major cities. Thousands of visitors and guests, including artists and celebrities, swarm to town to share their love of comics, movies, and all things pop culture. A list of Comic-Con activities includes a variety of workshops, panels, award ceremonies, up-and-coming movie and film screenings, costume contests, and more! As per usual, Comic-Con will be held less than a mile away from Comfort Inn Gaslamp, at the convention center downtown, and will run from July 21 to July 24, 2022.
